President's Welcome
Hello everyone!
My name is Alanna Dowdy, and I am so excited and honored to serve as the PRSSA President for the 2026–2027 school year. I am a senior Public Relations major, and I will be graduating in May 2027. As I begin my final year at Kent State, I cannot think of a better way to spend it than leading an organization that has played such an important role in my college experience.
I have been involved in PRSSA for the past two years, previously serving as Co-Vice President of Fundraising and Community Outreach. During that time, I have had the opportunity to meet incredible people, develop my professional skills, get involved in meaningful projects, and grow both personally and professionally. PRSSA has given me experiences and connections that I know I will carry with me long after graduation.
What makes PRSSA so special is that it is more than just a student organization. It is a community. It is a place where we can learn from one another, make professional connections, gain real-world experience, and, most importantly, support each other as we prepare for careers in public relations and communications.
As we begin this new year, I want our chapter to be a place where everyone feels welcomed, encouraged, and inspired to get involved. Whether you are a returning member who has been part of PRSSA for years or someone attending your very first meeting, there is a place for you here. I hope that this year allows you to step outside of your comfort zone, discover new interests, build your network, and create memories that you will take with you beyond Kent State.
Our field is constantly changing, and I want us to change and grow with it. This year, we will focus on creating opportunities that help prepare our members for the real world while also building a strong, connected chapter. I am incredibly excited about what our executive board has planned, and I cannot wait to see what we accomplish together.
Thank you for being a part of PRSSA and for trusting me to serve as your president. I am so grateful for this opportunity, and I am looking forward to making the 2026–2027 school year one to remember.
