All funds raised will benefit students both academically and professionally. KENT October 7, 2016 – The Kent State University Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA Kent) held its annual Homecoming Silent Auction on September 30th and October 1st to raise funds to send 15 of its registered members to the PRSSA National Conference. The Homecoming auction was part of the Kent State School of Journalism and Mass Communication’s Alumni Award Ceremony. With the support of local businesses and Kent State donors, PRSSA Kent raised a record amount of more than $8,000, which will reimburse students travel and registration expenses for PRSSA National Conference, as well as supporting other Chapter professional development activities. “This year's auction broke records in ways we didn't think possible,” said PRSSA Kent Chapter President Erin Zaranec. “We were excited last year reaching $5,200 and this year we completely beat any goal we could have set for ourselves.”
PRSSA Kent left national conference with chapter recognition for its success over the last year. Individual students were recognized as recipients for multiple awards. Hanna Moore and Brenna Parker received the Presidential Citation award, and immediate past President Gabrielle was awarded the Gold Key award. PRSSA Kent as an organization received the Teahan award for its efforts in diversity.
