Youtoo Social Media Conference Chair Latisha Ellison and Vice President of Public Relations Holly Disch recently took a trip to Seattle to represent PRSSA Kent at National Assembly.

During National Assembly national PRSSA bi-laws are voted on and national committee elections take place. Ellison represented Kent State University as a voting delegate and Disch represented Kent State as a Vice President of Advocacy candidate.

Along with elections, attendees were able to be a part of leadership and ethics sessions.

"The sessions Latisha and I were able to attend helped us see the type of chapter we want in Kent," Disch says. "We are able to bring bigger ideas like how to act in an unethical situation and what types of leaders you need to be a strong chapter."

Over all, Disch and Ellison enjoyed the National Assembly experience, as well as exploring the city of Seattle, Washington.

"National Assembly was an incredible experience that showed me I picked the right major," Ellison says. "I was surrounded by so many leaders who care about the progression of our Society and improving our education."

Changes to the bi-laws include: The VP of Advocacy became the VP of External Affairs, the VP of Public Relations became the VP of Digital Communication and the VP of Regional Conferences became the VP of Events and Fundraising.

Delegates elected new candidates who shared their passion for public relations and PRSSA and who vowed to use their positions to better the Society and the next generation of PR professionals. It was a great weekend of leadership and passion for the PR craft!

Kudos! So glad National Assembly proved rewarding. It seems you've returned with your sights set high, so I look forward to watching the chapter's continued growth!

All my best,
Marcus
